Sign up for the neighborhood potluck!

The annual Mentelle neighborhood picnic will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, September 10 in the north median of Mentelle Park (nearest to Cramer Ave.) Some people wanted a change from burgers and brats, so this year the event will be a full potluck dinner.

The association will provide plates and utensils, as well as ice water, iced tea and lemonade. But we’re asking each person / family to bring a dish or two to share — meats, vegetables, salads, fruits and desserts. This is a great time to impress your neighborhood with your specialty dish.  If you’re not a great cook, a bucket of fried chicken would be just fine! Also bring any additional beverages you desire.

We will have a limited number of tables, so you might want to bring a lawn chair, too. There will be some toys and games for kids of all ages, plus the always-popular hay ride provided by Gil Dunn. We had a great turnout last year, and we hope to see everyone there again this year.

If you plan to attend, please click here to sign up and tell us what you will be bringing.

Warehouse Block wellness fair today!

Walk over to National Avenue this afternoon before 5 p.m. for the Wellness Month kickoff event. Some Warehouse Block businesses have special offers and events, and the Mentelle Neighborhood Association is sponsoring a hydration station. Thanks for former MNA President Ann Olliges for helping organize this neighborhood event. (If you’re reading this from an email, click on the headline to view the photo.)

Warehouse Block advisory group meets Sept. 27

From Chad Walker, owner of the Warehouse Block:

I’m writing to inform everyone of the next Warehouse Block neighborhood advisory board meeting.  As a reminder, this meeting serves as a venue to update neighbors of the goings-on inside the commercial district known as the Warehouse Block.  It’s an informal open invitation for anyone who resides in the Mentelle, Kenwick or Bell Court neighborhoods to meet and have candid discussions regarding the direction and future of the neighborhood.
The meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 27th at 5:30p.  The location will be Myriad Meadery at 732 National Avenue.
Please feel free to forward this to anyone you believe would be interested in attending.
Thanks!
