MNA annual meeting is October 18

The Mentelle Neighborhood Association’s annual membership meeting will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, in the meeting room at the rear of the Children’s Advocacy Center of the Bluegrass, 162 North Ashland Ave. All MNA members are welcome to attend, as well as those who would like to become members. You may join here or at the meeting.

The meeting will include the election of officers and board members, all of whom serve one-year terms. We anticipate one vacancy among the board members, but any association member interested in running for any office is welcome to submit their name for the ballot. If you are interested, please email your name, details and any questions to MNA President Tom Eblen by the end of the day on Monday, Oct. 16, so ballots can be prepared. Nominations also are accepted from the floor before the vote is taken.

The meeting is a good opportunity to ask questions, as well as to suggest social activities and neighborhood improvement efforts you would like to help organize and work on. We hope to see all members there!

Sign up now for Sunday’s picnic!

The annual Mentelle neighborhood picnic will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, September 10 in the north median of Mentelle Park (nearest to Cramer Ave.) Some people wanted a change from burgers and brats, so this year the event will be a full potluck dinner.

If you plan to attend, please click here to sign up and tell us what you will be bringing.

The association will provide plates and utensils, as well as ice water, iced tea and lemonade. But we’re asking each person / family to bring a dish or two to share — meats, vegetables, salads, fruits and desserts. This is a great time to impress your neighborhood with your specialty dish.  If you’re not a great cook, a bucket of fried chicken would be just fine! Also bring any additional beverages you desire.

We will have a limited number of tables, so you might want to bring a lawn chair, too. There will be some toys and games for kids of all ages, plus the always-popular hay ride provided by Gil Dunn. We hope to see everyone there!
