Eagle Chase is Saturday, Nov. 7

From Donnie Piercey, 5th Grade Teacher, Ashland Elementary School:
Just another reminder that next Saturday, November 7, Ashland Elementary is hosting our 2nd annual Eagle Chase 5K, and the course runs right through our neighborhood. The race starts at 9:00 AM at the school, and our runners and walkers will make three laps through Kenwick before finishing back at Ashland. The route is shown in the map below. We’ll be finished around 10:00 that morning.
I’ll be walking the race route today passing out little slips of paper as one more reminder, so if you find one on your porch, that’s me! Sorry for the over posting, but since many of our Ashland kids will be participating, I just want to keep everyone safe!
A few things to know for race morning:
  • The roads will NOT be closed. If you need to leave that morning, you absolutely can. We just ask that you pull out slowly and keep an eye out for our runners and walkers!
  • The section shown in YELLOW below will be coned off. This is just to keep unnecessary traffic from driving down Cramer Avenue while the race is going on. If you live on Cramer (like I do!), you’ll be able to leave that morning if you need to. The cones are just an extra precaution to keep any extra cars off the course!
  • Not a runner? Grab a cup of coffee, sit out on the porch, and cheer us on! The kids love it.
  • If you’d like to join in, you can still register (or make a donation) at https://eaglechase5k.com . Every dollar goes to helping our 4th and 5th grade students who can’t afford our big end of the year field trips!
Thanks again, y’all!
